Hey, a two part question based upon people's experiences.

1.)Does your school have an in-school 'radio station'?
2.)If so, have you ever managed to choose songs for it? (And if so, how was the reaction?)

I'm curious, as I can say 'Yes' to both of these questions. At Ambarvale, we periodically have music played over the PA at Recess and/or Lunch, and most of the time, is it horrible, a cavalcade of annoying pop hits and commercial rap hits, with the occasional pop-punk hit for variety [Very repetitive too..]. Throughout the years, I've been aurally tortured by the continual lack of music, so last Thursday, my last day as a formal Year 12 student, I took action.

Thankfully, no blood was spilt [Although I did have the battering ram and air support if needbe ;) ), as I managed to pull off an entirely peaceful coup in taking control of the radio station. My tastes have been described as 'unusual' (By Ambarvale standards..But in comparison to my cohort, that's not a bad thing), and I tried to reflect that in the brief time I had control. (About 22 minutes).

In that time, I played;
Joy Division-Transmission
The Clash-London Calling
Sonic Youth-Shadow Of A Doubt
Talking Heads-Once In A Lifetime (Nothing wrong with nerdiness.)
The Smiths-Half A Person
Radiohead-Street Spirit (Fadeout)

and had a good time doing so, finally imposing my will over the populace of the school, and getting something that 'doesn't suck' played over the airwaves, transmitted throughout. The thing I found somewhat comical however, was exactly how divided the responses to my selections were. My reign saw a continued procession of teachers praising my selection and a multitude of students asking if there were 'any other songs, because that sucks'. (The horror..One person in my grade wanted to put Jennifer Lopez on, which besides being lame, would have seemed horribly out of place.). But yes, I managed to successfully hold on for the time period (Recess), and it was all good, in the end. I made my statement.

Does anyone have a similar experience that they'd perhaps like to expound upon in the form of a rambling description?

We have a radio station but it rarely gets used cos no one can be bothered manning it, its pretty much used for announcements in the morning and thats all.
