Is it possible to combine Science and Engineering for a high UAI course?

Example: If i wanted to do Science/Space Engineering which is a UAI of 94.55 when when Space (Mechatronics) Engineering is 98.80.
Is this possible?

Yes, if you have the required marks you will be able to take the stream.

Ok....but why is that. I get to do my Engineering Course I wanted to do plus i get to do a science course when i couldn't even get into the Engineering course i wanted to do with the UAi i got?

ummm.. before anything else, maybe make your questions understandable first?

You still have to get the UAI for your chosen engineering stream to be allowed to do it. i.e. Enrolling in BE/BSc and trying to enrol in a engineering stream with a cut-off your higher than your UAI is not allowed.

Ok so, Suppose i wanted to Space (mechatronics) Engineering/B Sc....i would still have to get a UAI of 98.8+ even though the B.E/B.Sc cut off is 95.

just a side note, doing straight mechanical/electrical is better job prospects than mechatronics, unless you like stevedoring since basically anything you need a mechatronic engineer to do either a mech or an electrical can do it [better].

Step 1. Do Flexible First Year
Step 2. Get > 75% WAM first semester
Step 3. ???
Step 4. PROFIT! (Switch to Mechatronic Space)

Should be stated that flexible first year for mechatronics space stream has only electrical, mechatronic and IT/software as other options.

Provided you get the marks, you can get into any stream, including the ones you didn't do in FFY (eg chemical, mechanical)

Yes, but you have missed out on Physics and the correct Prof Eng course as well as the intro subject so you are a bit behind.

If you didn't get the UAI of 98.80 then you would need to transfer, assuming you got above 95 to get into flexible first year Engineering combined with Science.

Hey, can you transfer from straight Engineering to Engineering/Science with a cutoff higher than yours or does it get too complicated? e.g. do Civil Engineering first year then transfer into Mechatronics Space Engineering/Science second year? Always wondered if that was possible...

They are only first year subjects and if you have the marks, the associate dean could very easily waive prerequisites based on those subjects (as those of us who have dealt with Doug Auld knows)

It is complicated because you have to go through UAC, but you'll be transfering into combined engineering science since there is no separate streams in the combined degree from UAC's point of view. You would then ask to be allowed into the mechatronics (space) stream based on your previous marks.
