ive been sharing my broadband internet connection thru the use of an ethernet cable and recently the computer (which the modem is NOT connected to) keeps flashing up the message...limited or no connectivity and will not connect to the internet
ive tried checking the 'internet connection sharing box' under network connections(on the main computer which has modem connected to it) and an error message comes up.

can someone please help!!??

Are you sharing the right connection ? (That is, you need to share the Internet connection, not the LAN).

A firewall, have you?

check ur cables for loose wires, or loosely plugged connectors

cos i'm assuming it's been shared quite a bit and this is a recent issue?

also..the error message states an 'error occured while internet connection sharing was being enabled the specified service does not exist as an installed service'

On that note, if not sharing through a router/switch, is the other computer on.

Have you checked in network properties that both machineshave all the same services installed and enabled. And that computer B is set up to recieve ICS.

ok, so here's a checklist:

1. check that both computers have a NIC installed correctly (see through device manager)
2. check your cable. it should be a cross-over cable. (WO, O, WG, Bl, WBl, G, WBr, Br on one side, and WG, G, WO, Bl, WBl, O, WBr, Br on the other). Check that the wires are actually touching the pins.
3. plug the cable in, and see if the lights on both NICs are on.
4. make sure both Local Area Connections are 'enabled'

If you've got past this, you've past step 1

in my previous post, you're not meant to have any success.

I'm just stepping you through a checklist to determine where your error lies.

So from my above post, do both NIC LEDs light up when sticking the cable in both ends?

If you're cables are stuffed, a router won't solve any problem.
