i found a thread that went into this a bit but it never gave me the conclusive answer i wanted... is there any guaranteed way to convert shoe sizes? eg, i want to know what a size 6 or 7 would be in that other system that uses bigger numbers (38, 39, etc).

I've discovered some shoe brands still go by 'old'/smaller sizing... eg I'm a 35 in some (Joanne Mercer), but in others it's a 36 (Mollini). Gah.

i'm a size 5 (35) in most sizes except steve madden and keds, for tony bianco's i go half a size up so then it doesnt hurt as much.

but since you're a 6 im guessing its 36 up
