Suppose you have a to write a really long expression (such as for Q10b in the 2003 HSC paper). Are you allowed to write D= or E=blah, as a shortcut instead of writing the whole line out. E.g:
Instead of writing rt(x^2 + y^2 + 2x) + rt(2x^2 - 4y + 1) + x^2 + y^2 + 16xy for each of 5 lines of working, can you just write:
let D=rt(x^2 + y^2 + 2x) + rt(2x^2 - 4y + 1) + x^2 + y^2 + 16xy
then continue using D throughout your working?
