Should I change Investigating Science to Bio and Software Engineering to Economics? (1 Viewer)

Hey everyone, I'm at the end of year 10. I kind of fooled around in year 10 English (despise the subject) and forced to do English Standard (NSW). The subjects I'm doing are:
Math Adv
English Standard (ES)
Business Studies (BS)
Software Engineering (SE)
Chemistry
Investigating Science (IS)

I received the list of the subjects I got. I've got a friend who is considering changing SE to Economics while I want to change SE to Economics. I enjoyed Commerce and think Economics could further expand my love for business. Is economics a particularly hard subject and does it have a high enough scaling or should I stick with SE. It's subject to change with placements and marks.

The more conflicted matter is changing IS to Bio. I've got friends who do accelerated IS and they think it's a load of bullocks. I'd like to work either in medicine, law, business/economics, or software/IT. To change IS to Bio is a huge stretch but a possible one. It'd involve changing IS (line 3) to Business studies and changing Business Studies in line 5 to biology. A HUGE stretch but most likely not going to happen.

Also you should defo try to switch to bio, IS scales poorly and I haven't heard great things about it. Bio pairs well with chem and it can be content-heavy if you're also switching to eco, but it's an actual science rather than IS lol and will be helpful for medical degrees

The process of changing IS to Bio and keeping BS is possible but overcomplicated and may not work. I'd ideally like to keep business studies or should I opt for 2 sciences and IS. If I include eco on top, the workload might be too much for it which I am concerned about. I don't do any extra-curriculars and have all the free time in the world but I don't think I'll be able to grasp the concepts fully if I do too many demanding subjects

What are your thoughts?
Again this is all subject to change as a result of placements or people wishing to change classes.

Hmm that's a fair concern. Bio, eco and chem is very difficult to manage, but just bio and eco seems to be fine for me. I don't think bio is that demanding but it really depends on your teacher and how well they explain stuff. It might be safer to keep IS in that case

Whoops. I did not see your reply here. I might just keep IS and keep BS too instead of Bio.

at a year 10 lvl is pure basic brotha. once you get to year 11, the struggle will be tight starting from term 2 and you're gonna have to remember certain shit and these math calculations are going to get you. well to be honest, you can do chemistry if you're averaging a B in 5.3

What's wrong with chemistry?
I do enjoy chem quite a lot (well at a yr 10 lvl)
Chem can be insanely hard, but it's really useful for a lot of degrees and the scaling is good. It's gonna get much harder (from what my peers say) but if you're willing to put the effort it's probably worth the try. It's the type of subject that you can get away with and might even have to expect lower marks in, but in the HSC they'll get aligned.

Oh and you need good problem solving skills

also i just wanna say, you sound like year 11 is determining your final ATAR. it's just a practice year for you to get going. do whatever you continue you to do in life just don't be stressed and all
