i want to keep it, and people have suggested that i do, but i think i need more reassurance that im making the best choice.

i accelerated maths adv last year and got a mark of 96, but since im doing mext 2 for the hsc this year, this mark will be overridden by the mext 2 mark if i keep it.

i know the scaling for mext 2 is meant to be insane, but my rank’s pretty low and im not sure if itll be worth it? if i drop ill be on 11 units, and if i dont i reckon ill just remain on 12 units.

below are my maths ranks and number of e4s in 2024 (and though last year’s cohort was a bit stronger than usual, e4 count has been pretty similar)

maths ext 1: 16/65, 25 e4
maths ext 2: 17/24, 10 e4

All logical reasoning points towards keeping the subject henceforth you should keep it. There’s your reassurance.

An 85 in extension 2 is equivalent to a 95 in math advanced. Even if you get a lower scaled mark than ur advanced mark in extension 2 (by getting less than 85 in mx2), because extension 2 and 1 is counted as 4 units instead of 3 units for extension 1 and advanced, your atar will still be much better.

Aren't you doing the HSC this year? You've already made it this far - might as well just sit the HSC exam. You might not get a b6, but even if you b5 mx2, it'll still contribute to your ATAR more than a b6 in pretty much any other subject
