Simple Yet Effective Text for AOS - Change

I've got Area of study in about 5 weeks time and im in search of a text that is quite simple..ie not 500 pages long...sort of trying to stay away from Films and Songs. Something like a newspaper article or even a poem will do extremely well that is if i can deconstruct it effectively.

Throw me some ideas! My teachers are going to be marking very strist (avg for the last two years was between 15-20/50 so go figure :S

EDIT: Sorry i did not mention the relation. it is change in perspective

What does it have to be relating to?

Id say get any of Shakespeare's poems (yes he wrote a few) if youre looking for poems since his are pretty straight forward but being able to throw his name around is impressive.

Id also recommend on the short story front the following:
Thomas Hardy - On the Western Circuit
Jean Rhys - On Not Shooting Sitting Birds

has anyone read smokey joes cafe? i dunno if its relates ENOUGH to change to be worth doing..has to be something relatively short because im struck for time

meh our grade was the best in a while... we had an average of 21/50 (advanced) I'll have you know :p (The average for standard was 10 I believe).

I used Endless Night by Agatha Christie (I happened to be in a Christie mood at the time).
The first essay is a relative pushover... the teachers have a tendency to exaggerate. It's just a matter of writing with sophistication and knowing your texts to a reasonable degree.

Hey, I go to Sefton too!!! Isn't Ms Mckenzie having a child and will soon be replaced by the evil Ms Kristovskis by Term 2?

Sefton for some reason has a reputation for having extremely tough markers, especially in English. They take off quite a lot of marks for the smallest of grammatical or vocabulary errors, which is hardly done in the Board of Studies marking since they mainly mark on the main content of answers.
Compare my marks for English in Year 10:
Yearly examination mark: 67.5
2004 School Certificate examination mark: 86
BIG DIFFERENCE!

As for related texts for Area of Study, check out past HSC papers and see any short prescribed texts used for Changing Perspective, that's if you get lazy or desperate.

-One beautiful Mind

i have on mind remember the titans..(watched before, others i havent) and which a tight time span i am considering doing this one. What do you people think?

This might be a stupid question, but in the past HSC Area of Study focus "Changing Perspective", one of the prescribed texts was a selection of poems by Peter Skrzynecki. I was intending to find one of his poems as a related text of my choice, until I realised it was also in the current HSC Area Of Study focus "Physical Journeys". Since I know that my school is going to do "Physical Journeys" for the HSC, am I allowed to use the Skrzynecki poems as a Preliminary text for "Changing Perspective"?

I know that you're not supposed to learn the HSC course until Term 4 of Year 11 at the earliest, but I've stuck myself in doubt. Since the poems are not going to viewed on the "Physical Journeys" field, they therefore shouldn't be part of the HSC course, but at the same time I'm thinking they are the same texts and the poems might be considered a part of the HSC course....

*Forgetting about a possible chance altogether, means that I'll have to keep searching and time is running out, before the assessment task....
