Hey,

I was thinking of doing the simpsons episode "homer badman" for my related text for telling the truth. But my teacher thinks it's not sophisticated enough- what does everyone here think? Did anyone do it last year? How did you go?

Also, is it a bad idea to pick two films for related material? Dos anyone know any non-film texts I could do (other than the john butler trio song and michael moore books)? I'm pretty desperate- i need to find two by my exam next week :( thanks

i know a guy who used a simpsons episode in the final exam. he ended up getting a UAI of 99.95. clearly, it depends how you use it.

I agree mei_ling! It's all about how you relate it. I really love 'The Simpsons!' I don't thinks it's unsophisticated, but I do suppose the thought of "Is this really an English Advanced related text standard" will be racing through some of the teachers minds.

Personally, I love the show! But is it English Advanced work?

i've never seen it, but Liar Liar? On second thoughts i'd say the simpsons is probs more sophisticated.
I think the simpsons provides an excellent satire of modern life. Go for it.

It doesn't matter how sophisticated the text is, just how sophisticated your arguments are.
