when we do a situation analysis i know you do a SWOT analysis but do we always include competitor analysis, product analysis and marketing analysis??? or does that depend on the question( thats wat my teacher sed)

Yes, as analysis of the businesses swot, competitors, product and market influences is what you'll base your marketing strategies on.

Hi... If you're doing a situtional analysis as part of a marketing plan, then it consists of three parts before you move onto the SWOT; these are:

i) macro environment, i.e. external factors that the business has no control over: Competition, Social & Cultural, Economic, Legal & Political, Ethical, Technological, Demography.
ii) external micro environment, i.e. external to the business but which directly impacts: Market, Suppliers, and Marketing Intermediaries.
iii) internal micro environment, i.e. internal non-marketing resources such as financial and internal resources, and the internal marketing resources.

The SWOT follows, as from the above you can clearly identify internal strengths and weaknesses, and external opportunities and threats.
