ok, now i only picked up SoR 1 like at the beginning of this term. I hadnt missed anything last term coz they hadnt done anything. But I was just wondering if I should like catch up on any prelim stuff? I have Living Religion Third Edition. I don't mind reading all the stuff from Prelim but I dunno if it's worth it? Like if I really need to or not?

dont bother. you can get by without it, so it'll be wasting your time.

if you want - since you have living religion - you can always skim through it in your own time, but you wont really need it i dont' think

if anything, just read the sections on the religions that you're doing. :)

Assuming that this is for Year 11, i would actually disagree with teh advice that the first unit "Nature of Religion" (again, assuming thats what you are talking about as you havent really given too many clues!) is actually quite important for two aspcets of the course
1) the elements of religion will help you with the Yr 11 and 12 Religious Tradition studies (kinda important to know what makes up religion before you study it dont you think!)
2) the Aboriginal part of the unit (last bit) is absolutely vital to understand the first Yr 12 unit "Influence of Religion in Australia post 1945"

You can get away with just reading about it but I wouldnt just dismiss it. All aspects of the course are there for a reason, even if you look at it from an outcomes POV

yea i realised that later...
it's probably gnna be more useful to read the nature of religion, and the aboriginal religion bits, than the religious depth study bits - contrary to what i said before - coz you learn different things in yr 12 to yr 11 on the religion depths (tho yr 11 does provide a basis)

but nature of religion + aborigional spirituality does come up in yr 12 so you might wanna look at that =)

Hmmm...
wouldnt you already know enough about Aboriginal Spirituality from all the years of ABorig. studies? [ie... Compulsary history etc..]
i've covered it in Art, Health, History, and Geography.

but you're right, its good to read up on....

depends on how well you listened and how well it was taught!

In my experience, its taught badly because its compulsory and its just gets glossed over.
(plus I know that its not covered to the depth or detail as required for Yrs 11 and most importantly, Yr 12)

Plus (IMHO) students are 'stupid' when it comes to cross subject knowledge !!!! (let alone remembering stage 5 information in stage 6!)

Be aware though that the paper structure and content has changed dramatically so looking at past papers may actually be a waste of time (and quite damaging if you dont realise what you are doing and what you shouldnt be doing). I would suggest looking at the standards packages (2001 and 02 and 03-print form only) with the current syllabus beside you and see what info you can pull out of band six answers that will help you (as opposed to doing the papers which are really irrelevant to the new (2005) syllabus)
