I’m in my second year (second semester) right now and I lowkey love it so much. Depending on your strengths/interests u might find some things hard (for example, I actually suck at science so I struggled a bit with the anatomy/neuroscience parts of the degree). The main things that I’ve looked at so far are anatomy (skull and throat - so like Larynx/pharynx), neuroscience (neuroanatomy, cranial nerves, and a few other stuff), stuttering, child language, speech sound disorders, linguistics/phonetics (they teach you something called the IPA - International Phonetic Alphabet which is basically like different letters that you use and you kind of rewrite a sample speech using the ipa to determine if that person has a language disorder (but a lot of ppl told me u don’t need this when u start working)), hearing/audiology and then your placement units. This sem I have another placement unit and I’m looking at voice/ voice disorders, a unit called cognitive neuropsychology (how the brain is connected to language) and neuro. Some of these units are actually so boring but it’s actually chill.

Regarding the pay I think it’s alright. I think grads can secure a job for like usually 80-90k (I think I’ve seen some with 100k) starting depending on where u choose to work (there’s so many places u can work at like hospitals, aged care facility, preschool, school, private place, etc). I’m pretty sure u can secure a job in like ur third/last year while you’re still studying so yeah

Personally I’d rather work with kids than adults but some people prefer the opposite
