Has anyone done/looked at the STANSW trial? There seems to be so many problems with it, e.g.

Too much text tor read

Using f=mv^2/r as part of the specimen solution instead of F=Gm1m2/r^2 (which appear to give a different solution)

Rockets seemingly not changing any significant amount mass even as it runs out of fuel?

A stationery observer on Earth with a powerful telescope checking out clocks and mass of spacecraft 0.92 lightyears away?

Where did you get this trial from? Is this the 2003 one?

We have:

CSSA
Independent
STANSW
Professional
Academic

trial papers, 2003.

We also have 2001 and 2002 past trial papers for chemistry and physics. I don't know where my school gets it from, but every science student (phys/chem) has a booklet full of 01/02/03 trial papers with marking grids, etc.

:D

With maths, there's about 5 booklets with 20 years worth of trial and HSC papers from all years, with solutions. Mmmm I think there's copyright infringements here :p

Professional? Academic?

Yes, 2003.

We have 2 booklets for physics - 2001 and 2002 papers from various schools

No booklets for maths, but really, 5 or 6 papers should be enough, and the number I'm getting is not going to getdone by anyone.

From experience it appears teachers aren't bound by copyright law. Neither are students, except for those currently being sued by record companies :)

With your f=(mv^2)/r, are you sure that this question is not actually SUPPOSED to be a circular motion question?

What is the question?

omg.

GIMME :D

Our teachers are so up tight they won't even give us the CSSA 2003 marking guidelines.

I've never heard of them either... but that's what it says on the cover, "Professional, Independent, Academic, CSSA, STANSW" and then with IPT you've got ARC and the rest... they're all similar in style though. (and it's boring flicking through hundreds of pages of exams :p)

ours are on loan from the book-hiring system at school.
we usually receive marking criterias, or at least solutions to questions so that we know where we've stuffed up, etc.

or we'll go through the entire paper and talk about where people lost marks and all the rest of it :)
feedback sessions

LOL yeah, we've just upgraded all the systems

P4 2.4GHz, 256MB ram, 17" CRTs (curved screen, but it's a philips), all running windows 2000 and/or XP.

we've got some nice PCs though... I must admit.
(vs the old PCs we had, PII 350mhz, 32MB ram, 15" monitor, windows 95)

I take it none of you actually have the paper, and the STANSW questions are VERY long, so I'll probably scan it when I get access to a scanner - probably in the weekend.

HAHAHAHA

OMG I have to delete my posts
I was trying to post last night and BAM, kept trying because it would lag like a *beep*

Only just realised it now.. I'll delete them now.
(Yes, it was because of the database error that I kept refreshing/re-submitting posts)
