I bought the textbook and never use it at all.
First topic just revision of high school stat such as the charts, mean, median, mode, standard deviation..etc
Then you start to learn some simple probability with perms and combination and Bayess theorem.
Third and Forth topics are random variable (Discrete and Continues) where you need some basic calculus.
Fifth topic is sampling distribution where you use normal distribution to approximate other distribution from the central limit theorem.
Topic 6-9 are the significant tests where you test the mean with known/unknown variance.
Then you learn regression and odds.
Don't be scare, you just need to know which formula to use for the tests, you don't even need to know how it works. ( you learn the derivation in 2nd yr stat if you take 272/271)
Like 2 sided test with unknown variance you use the t-test and t-table
All you need is good comprehensive skill (so you know which formula to use)
and good at simple algebra and calculus.
Better focus on first year maths if you enroll math132/133, you need to be good at them for later stat or acst unit.
What bad things you heard? This course is so easy compare to other courses I took lol
