but when i apply over the internet for preference, it saids to put a 1 in front so its like 1xxxx xxxx

fine, but i'm asking, for exams, do we use xxxx xxxx or do we need to put an extra 1....

Your Student Number is given to you by the Board of Studies NSW. This is 8 digits. For example: 13881138

When you apply over the Internet via UAC, you will be given your UAC Number upon receipt of payment and entering of course preferences.

Your UAC Number is 9 digits long, with a 1 in front of your Student Number.

When you are sitting for a HSC exam, you will be required to use your Student Number, not your UAC Number, which is 8 digits. There is no need to put an extra 1 in front of your Student Number during the HSC Exams, as the BOS and UAC are two separate entities.

In summary:

Student Number
* 8 digits long, for example 13881138
* Required in HSC Examinations (on the top right hand corner)

UAC Number
* 9 digits long, for example 113881138
* Required when having any dealings with UAC (change of preferences, enquiries, etc).

It'll create confusion if they'll be marking/receiving two sets of data for the same Student Number, especially from two different Examination Centres (different Centre Numbers). Unless, of course, you have arranged that earlier LOL

In Year 11 I did 3 Math, 3 Eng as well

But I nobody at my school does 4 Math, 4 Eng.
Only 3 Math, 4 Eng.
