The compulsory fees that we pay, what are they actually used for and what services do they provide? Does anyone know where this info can be found?

*Points to Jon A* He would be able to tell you more than what I can.

But this is what it has on the website:
About the Student Activities Fee

The Student Activities Fee is compulsory for all UWS students and is based on an approved annual fee which is calculated and payable each teaching session on a pro-rata basis.

The Student Activities Fee will be allocated to the following UWS-affiliated student organisations:

The entities which are capable of receiving an allocation of the Student Activities Fee are:

UWS Students' Association Inc (UWSSA)
Postgraduate Association of the University of Western Sydney (PAUWS)
uwsconnect Ltd

Ask Jon - he'd definately know. There are probably some huge lists somewhere, but I can't be bothered looking cause I still have so much work to do that I haven't finished this week.

Cape's info is correct. The legislative changes will alter this, universities can be fined millions if they impose compulsory fees on students for activities of this nature (VSU). The best people I can direct you to is the Student Finance Unit, contact UWS info line and ask for an extension to someone there. They deal with payments and the like.

i remember it somewhere,

80% of the fee goes to UWS connect and 20% goes to UWSSA

UWS Connect for the sport, leisure, and food services.

UWSSA for the advocacy, print services, unions etc.

oh, I have already paid them, but was wondering what the fees do, like I have seen a list of what Usyd gets and was wondering what would be affected specifically by VSU

hmmm...if thats true i think its silly...

i get a feeling that the students who really need the subsidies they provide would much rather more computer access and cheaper photocopies than a few extra games of soccer and pub crawls...

should be more close to 50/50 i think....
