Hi all.

I am applying to do a distance education course with Souther Cross University.

On the application, it says indicate the study period that I wish to commence my studies (Semester 1 or 2, or Trimester A, B or C

Can anyone tell me the difference between the Semester and Trimester system? Does choosing the trimester option mean i will complete the degree any quicker?

Any advice appreciated.

not sure if this is the same as your course, but I'll give this analogy of how trimesters and semesters work for a course like a JD at my uni.

If you do it in trimesters, you can finish it in 2 years, as you do 4 subjects every trimester X 3 trimesters a year = 24 subjects total (only available to full fee postgrads)

If you do it in semesters its (available to Hecs people upon completion of a first degree, and the GLAT and good marks from 2008 onwards), it takes 3 years as you do 4 subjects per semester X 2 semesters per year = 24 subjects total
