hey guys - you know how ext subjects are 1u?
am i restricted from doing ext subjects if i do all 2u subjects?

( 2u + 2u + 2u + 2u + 1u = 9u) -> not enough units for uai
( 2u + 2u + 2u + 2u +2u + 1u = 11u) -> too many units for uai

You have to have a minimum of ten. That's the ONLY requirement.
You can do 11 units.

but I don't understand, how many units actually get counted towards HSC? =|
i thought it was 10, but if did well in an ext subject, then they'd have an un-even number of units to mark/scale or whatever. =/

i dont get that either...

so just say i have 11 units, and my 11th unit, extension english for instance, gets better results than a two unit subject, like maths, then how do they count it? how can they count an uneven number of units in your uai?

Your best ten units of work are used for UAI calculation.

If you go better in Ext Eng (1unit; marked out of 50) they would take half the 2unit subject you did worst in and use that to calculate the rest of the UAI.

yep dan is spot on there, there isnt such a thing where you have too many units, but the only requirement is a minimum of 10 units plus at least 2 units of english
so say youre doing
-english
-maths
-maths ext 1
-bio
-phys
-chem
which is 11 units, and if your maths ext is better than, for example biology, then they count maths ext 1 as 1 unit and they count biology as 1 out of 2 units
