Maths EX1,
Eng Ad
Music 2
Chemistry/Modern HIstory

IF i remember correctly, chemistry should scale a lot better than history which could be a factor to your choice. However, a question should also be asked, are you more comfortable with stem based subjects or humanities? Because if you lean towards one over another, it will affect your scores.

u should do physics instead of chemistry. practically equal scaling but physics is 100x much easier. Content is less heavy and way less memorisation. Exams are also much easier as a result of less memorisation required.

and you should do mx2 if u actually want a 99+ atar. even a 96 atar is actually really hard to get with just extension 1

ur telling me people like memorising retarded lines and reactions that have no use in the real world? nor is it even tangible in the real word either outside a lab.

I guess people pick chemistry just cause its the most popular one for some reason.

chemistry also evokes "tHis Guy MusT be So SmaRt anD inTellIgent" vibes for some reason, even though this subject is for historytards

If I was in a different school I probably wouldn't hate chem, but our teacher is actually so awful, plus marks unfairly since he made me lose 5 marks out of 6 for one question just for not including some chemical equation despite doing everything else correctly. i could report them to nesa but nesa being the retards they are wont do anything cause they will be biased for the teacher, who they accredited and paid, like always.

bro you do not know awful chem teachers. In year 10, we had 4 chem teachers in one year. All of them 'left' because of 'circumstances' (aka fired).

IS it so? Physics content is easier than Chemistry?

Not subjective at all, abstract stuff correlates to more difficulty. It's why u don't do stuff like financial math in extension math but do so in standard. Nobody thinks extension math is easier than standard (other than narcissistic retards). Same logic can be applied to physics and chemistry. Physics is least abstract compared to chemistry. How often do you encounter mixing of chemical reactions in your daily life? There are random lines you have to draw in chemistry as well. In physics you see stuff move, how stuff sounds. The most relatable thing you can do that's related to HSC physics is throwing a ball in the air, it follows a parabolic path. Meanwhile, the most relatable thing you can do that is related to HSC chemistry is literally nothing. From module 5 to 8, everything is focused on something that you can only see in labs.
Chemistry also scales better than physics (however just barely, so doing it just for scaling doesn't justify picking chemistry over physics).

i think chem is a really good subject to do, if you study hard enough it is easy to do well in. as for modern, i don't do it but apparently it is very lengthy and tedious (according to some friends). if you want to do history, maybe consider ancient - super easy to do well in, geniunely fun, and the hardest part of it is really just memorising 300+ pages worth of notes lol.

honestly i cant argue against either chem or history cause i love both, but if you are aiming for that top atar maybe do chem as it scales better.

its not about practicality. how am i supposed to use my english essays in the real world? how am i supposed to use mathematical induction in the real world? and how am i supposed to use principles of physics and maths in settings where i don't need to? just like i cant use chem other than in labs, the theoretical (and often practical) knowledge that we gain in high school isn't meant to set us up for the future - it's just a foundation for what you want to do later on.
honestly just pick what you want

yeah lowkey stuff u learn in high school is pretty pointless except like math and some sciences if u do stem related careers but even then some stuff like trig and even calc u prob won't use like for example as an accountant or doing science research or smth. I wish we could learn more useful stuff in high school with real life application. Like why don't we learn how to manage money, pay taxes and to be financially literate

I’m not calculating the net force applied on me every time I sit in a bus my guy. The uselessness and usefulness of a subject is just dependent on the person, I mean, you could have the next NileRed over here. I agree with the abstractness of the subject tho.

I thought we did learn how to calculate taxes…. In year 9….
