What do you have to know about this syllabus point

- describe and explain the exothermic nature of sulfuric acid ionisation.

( XD only syllabus point i am not sure of in option;; )

any help will be very nice XD

when sulphuric acid ionises. it gets hot..

yeh thats about it. maybe know the equations as well because they 'describe'/represent the ionisation.

When conc sulfuric acid is mixed with water heat is released....to the order of 90kJ/mol
Hence for safety reasons acid should be added to water not water to acid
This is because the diprotic acid causes the H+ ions to rapidly dissociate liberating a large amount of heat
In other strong acids there is sufficient water for the molecules to be already ionised
