I wouldn't bother getting any study guides for prelims...they're expenisve ($30-$40) and not that great. Year 11 only goes for three terms and your marks aren't part of your HSC results, so why waste your money?

We had people from Excel come to our school to try and sell us study guides and pocket books and whatnot, but I wasn't that impressed. From what I've heard, the Excel study guides are really good for the maths/science type subjects, but aren't overlly helpful when it comes to business and history and those type subjects. I suggest you just play around with different study techniques (draw up mindmaps etc) and revise and summerise your notes.

I don't think you really need those Excel books for Year 11... save your money for Year 12 when you will.

i wouldn't bother getting any study guides, esp. for english, because teachers know when you're churning out study guide ideas which are usually the easiest to pick out....better to make your own conclusions....

a lesson learnt from spending too much money on study guides this year....
