mm, if your doing imaginative journey Coleridge, try not to do another poem.

And what im buggered about is this:
How does Tolkien lead us on a journey of the imagination? I'm not saying he doesnt, he does. But what techniques would you say he uses? :S

and Zodiac? nice sig. :)

hmm techniques! theres quite a alot... but the ones i can come up with now is that he used heaps of descriptive words thats bring you into a fantasy world, theres imagery, anthropomorphism and perhaps foreshadowing.

so, say i was writing an essay
all i have to do is mention techniques and bs how these techniques show 2 different worlds/imaginative journey
eg: matrix, allusions to other famous imaginative journeys, implying it is an imaginative journey..this is the bs bit....
yea?

yup, always the HOW it represents an imaginary journey is important...and thats where you include the techniques
make sure you talk about what ideas it relays about imaginative journeys too :D

Thats the thing, I don't want to use any techniques that are used in my analysis of Coleridge. Otherwise my essay will become repetitive. But i see what you mean. I'll choose The Hobbit/LoTR 1
