Symbolism of a Church??? (1 Viewer)

This is probably going to be a really stupid question... but, what is the symbolism of a church? Is it the house of God?
Sorry I dont know much about Christianity, and i cant find it anywhere in my books - and i want to include it in my Religious Rites.

Nah im using it for rite of passage in marriage... just saying how christian marriages take place in churches - and what that symbolises compared to a chupah used in Judaism... Thanks heaps for the help! :D

not all christian marriages have to take place in a church....only catholic

its one of the differences you can use in a compare/contrats situation
