What does that word mean?
It keeps popping up in the criteria sheet- alongside, there will be a circle for 1 mark (or possibly 2 if i'm lucky

Does it mean writing a link back to the original sentence after discussing each text? Will that suffice or it is a way more complex concept?

Getting a bunch of information from various sources and coming to a conclusion, based on the bunch of information.

You basically re-write everything from say 5 places, into your own version - synthesising.

It's a refinement process.

(copying out this sheet I have)

Synthesising is putting together various elements to make a whole.

synthesis just means that your whole thing ties in together. you've got the right idea, but rather than just writing a link to the original sentence.. maybe you could develop an idea about the topic that you want to talk about. and have something about that in the topic sentence while the rest of your paragraph talks about the techniques that is used to convey your thesis. and the introduction and conclusion is heaps important too as you know.

also, a complex concept could be original and show that you've put thought into it.. it's also very easy to mess it up. and never underestimate a deceptively simple concept

I can half-understand the scaffold
For a paragraph in a body, is it something like:

topic sentence, discuss ideas and themes in the text, evidence, link back to thesis (btw, this is for a whole text)

it means making your text sound like a whole and tie in together. don't talk about things that are off the topic or that generally just don't tie in. and yes use the tips above on how to make it all tie together
