I have got a job at Lonestar, and they ask me to fill in a Tax Declaration Form.
What is this for?
Where can I get one?

maybe they mean a tax file number declaration form?

if you dont have a tax file number (TFN) you get one from the ato. if you dont declare it you get taxed at the highest rate.

Yeh it is the tfn declaration form. It asks u for your tfn, some personal details and then some information about superannuation, deductions and whether you want to claim any benefits e.g. the tax-free threshold and stuff like that

You get them from the newsagency (as long as the newsagency has them in stock... Reminds me, I need to try another newsagency on my way to work tomorrow...)

Yeah, it's a declaration of employment form that you have to fill in and submit to the ATO within 2 weeks of commencing a new job. As Kylie said, they have them at newsagencies, or at ATO offices. Really, your employer should have some, it's pretty slack that they don't.

I think I filled out my tax declaration form wrong. I'm getting taxed 1/3 of my pay. Is it possible to fix it up? Or even fill out a new form?

You get taxed one third of your pay if you don't declare the tax free threshold. If you have already declared the tax free threshold on some other job this year then you can't claim it again.

I'm pretty sure you would be able to fix it if you made a mistake by speaking to your employer.

Question I'm uncertain of is Question 9:"Do you wish to claim the tax-free threshold from this payer?"

I know I will not have to pay tax because I'm earning below $6000, what other benifits are there for this?

then i think you want to claim it. i think that question is when you have more than one employer (payer), so you might claim the tax-free threshold with your first employer but pay tax on all your earnings for your second employer.

are you in nsw? i dont think ive ever filled out a tax declaration form. weird.

You still get a small amount of tax deducted even when you claim the tax free threshold... but if you earn under $6000 you get it all back.

If it is your only job, tick the tax free threshold box.

You should only tick the tax free threshold box ONCE in a financial year to avoid getting a tax bill (i.e. owing the tax office money)
