Hey,

Is anyone doing the poem by Ted Hughes, "The Jaguar"? If so, does anyone know how I could relate this text to Coleridge? The only thing that I have thought of is how it sort of relates to nature in the sense that the jaguar is going on his own imaginative journey into the wild and away from the limits of the cage and captivitiy. This relates to the imagination of Coleridge and his relation to nature.

I don't think that what I have so far is enough to finish this assessment task so if anyone could please post up what they think (if you are doing it of course!!) I would be greatly appreciative!

Thanks

Hey there,
yeah, basicly, the jaguar is unable to escape from his confinement, and unlike all the other animals that sit and mope, he imagines he is back in the wild and is running about and enjoying his life, even though he is still in confinement. Ring any bells? LIME TREE BOWER MY PRISON! coleridge feels like he is restricted by his injury, but realises, that through an imaginative journey he can experience the joys of nature even in his confined state.
:)
Hope that helps
