it was very cliched. I'm surprised they managed to make a movie out of it though - I would be able to sum it all up in one sentence (although I wont cause it would ruin it for you). Oh and the end is very lame - so only read it if you have a LOT of time to waste and don't plan to learn anything from it.

Is 'The Fashion Pack' by Hume anything like it? Very cliche as well, set in the fashion world, supermodels, gossip, affairs, all the facets of a fsahion business.

I can't wait to watch the movie though - after the trials! I think it will be very good, especially with Merly streep in it. There was an article in 'Spectrum' last weekend about it. Looks fun.

havent read 'The Fashion Pack', but sounds like it, simply lacking the affairs and gossip - and its about a magazine but does have loads of fashion.

bottom line, chick gets highly paid job with a 'devil' of a boss, that ensures she has no life (she's a personal assistant), realises her job is taking her away from her boyfriend + family, has to choose between fashion show or visiting her sister who is undergoing lifethreatening operation, chooses sister + boyfriend and quits job. the - ahem - big surprise is that when she quits her job, she swears at the boss and gets kicked out by security.

I seriously wonder how they could make a movie out of that...though maybe they ran out of ideas and that was the only one left? although I do want to see lots of designer clothes and hot shoes.

It was written by Anna Wintour's assistant and it is basically about what a bitch Anna Wintour is, which is no surprise. I thought it was funny and I personally can't wait to see the movie.

I didn't really like The Fashion Pack. Pretty lame and not exactly realistic but funny if you get the fashion jokes eg. "*points at crocodile* I see a Birkin!"

Hmmm....maybe I just read a mutated copy of the book? The one that was completely different to all the others? I really didn't see what in that book was good. The writing was average, the content easy, and the ending lame. And frankly, if you have a horrible boss, you generally get over it, not be bitter for your whole life. Although if I were going to make as much money as she was writing a book for jelly brained hollywood/people, I'd stoop that low too.
Think about all the lives you could save in Africa if you avoided such brain-numbing trash and donated all your money there.

Lets just say it was as good a learning experience as 'Bridget Jones Diary - look at me, I'm a fat slob called Bridget' and 'Bridget Jones Diary Two - the return of the Bridget's Killer Arse' (or whatever the hell it was). You watch it to escape your sad sad lives and enjoy the fact that there is someone (fake though it may be) more pathetic than you are.

no offense to anyone, I'm just ranting. I dont mean anyone in particular in this website since I dont know you people well enough. You guys probably all have like an IQ of 199 or whatever, I was just trying to get my (opinionated) point across.

um correct me if i am wrong, which im not btw, but if you wouldnt be bitter about a horrible boss who makes your life hell..

THEN YOU WOULDNT BLOODY COMPLAIN ABOUT A BOOK YOU DIDNT LIKE ON THE INTERNET, you'd just "get over it".

especially if it was a fictional - and thus not necessarily realistic book

i enjoyed the book, but then again, i was in the mood for a stupid silly girly book and not something else. i knew what genre it fitted it, and expected to read along the lines of how it went. not incredibly the best, most wittiest, most entertaining read i've ever had. but it was ok, enjoyable - not a hardship to read. plus i was flying, i needed a book to read lol
