What do you think the lesson of King Lear is? Why?

For me:
King Lear shows us that true love cannot be defined through love tests, it cannot be measured nor can it be expressed through glorified speech. True love is defined through small actions of devotion and unrestricted impulses of caring.

You can write that in an essay.... it's just that he would prefer the term "nihilism"...

Yeah I think that is definately a valid reading.... it sort of related to the christian reading of the play also where love is a redeeming factor...
