Dear all MQ students. I am currently planning to issue a formal complaint regarding one of the marketing tutors. If anyone, especially international students, has suffered or has been ridiculed or singled out by Monica Barbnio, please let me know. I wish to present a strong argument and a petition.

Racism in our day and age in a multicultural society is appalling.

What's happened?

A couple of friends of mine, all of them are Asian international students, they've be disrespected and humiliated. I can't mention anything too specific, but one of them is planning to leave the country and even give up on speaking English. Instead of helping them, the tutor has been intentional unhelpful and has even made one of them cry.

I would like to post what she said before failing one of their assessments but that could be considered as slander without hard evidence. My friends came here to learn and live, and this tutor is making them regret that.

Hmm, I know about "slander with hard evidence". Female friend of mine got an assessment task of hers shot down by her tutor, and the comment on her essay was: "Do you know how to use the library?"

I was walking with her to the bus stop... she took it really personally and was tearing up. Was kinda sad to be in that situation where you're not exactly sure what to do.


Anyways, nice to see you named and shamed her. BoS crew gonna egg her house now or something =P

(and dear Australian Federal Police, if her house is egged... not my fault. 100% srs)

I'm not too sure about these sorts of things but you might want to be careful about what you say... these are some pretty serious claims =s

I won't publically state any specifics. And I will be submitting formal complaints as well. I understand the whole 'Use the library' deal, that sucks but this was on a different level. I do believe my claims are pretty harsh, and i will take responsibility where need be. But I can't stand unfair treatment. I'm a local student standing up for my international friends. That is all.

If there has in fact been any misconduct by the person in question, you're certainly doing something that is extremely commendable.

Don't get me wrong, i completely agree that something needs to be done if this is true. I just mean you might want to be careful about publicly naming someone and accusing them of active racism before you've submitted any sort of formal complaint/got hard evidence, again i really don't know much about this but i have a feeling it would count as slander...
