Photosynthesis is used by producers to produce food all the way through the trophic levels so without photosynthesis there would be no food. Sort of like how 100 units are transferred from the sun to the plant then the plant uses some in making its own food then the next animals receieve less energy.

sorryy this is a bit disjointed but hopefully it helps

fixation of carbon thru the calvin cycle

production of oxygen as a waste product to allow cellular respiration in aerobic organisms

capture of the sun's energy to flow thru trophic levels

Photosynthesis is the chemical process on which all life is dependant. Producers use photosynthesis to form glucose which in turn forms energy. This energy allows the plant to grow and then herbivores eat it etc etc ... as below

Photosynthesis also has a significant role in the carbon cycle. It is through this process that carbon dioxide is removed from the air.

I think there may have been another but can't think of it maybe try googling it.

that's not actually true

there are ecosystems at the bottom of the ocean that have no photosynthesis

they get energy from thermal vents and carbon is fixed by bacteria, who are eaten by shrimps & other creatures
