Look at the very first question in 2006 and 2005 exam. They are pretty much the same question with the same answer. What I don't understand is why this year it was worth 2 marks and last year it was worth 1 mark? wtf?

I guess the examiners wanted to be a bit more generous this year with the very first question

They want to make you think you're doing good, then give you a really hard question unexpectidly, so you fail

They probably didn't have another question up their sleeve when they were producing the paper for question one and they have to make it add up to 12 marks, so they made the first question worth more and they wanted more than just the answer

They probably were just too lazy to change the 49 to another perfect square, or just wanted to make sure that you knew what you were doing.
