Does anyone have an perceptions experience with the IT department at UniSA? I am considering studying there and wanted to know how good it was? Quality of the staff/course/admin etc..? What degrees are good and bad etc..

Any stories of your experiences would especially be good to hear. I am still debating about going to one of the other uni's or even interstate but I would rather go to UniSA as its close to my home.

I did my IT degree there and I would highly recommend AGAINST it for the following reasons:

1. You have to go to the Mawson lakes campus which sucks big time. It is so dull, boring and has absolutley no campus culture whatsoever. It is really spread out and you can be there in the middle of the day and feel like there is nobody around. Oh yeah and the male to female ration is probably 9 to 1 which sucks if your a guy.

2. Alot of the students couldn't really give a stuff about the course and only seem to have enrolled at unisa because of the low TER entry scores needed to get into most courses. I've always been interested in computers and I was pretty disappointed with most of the other students who didn't seem that interested in all in what they were studying.

3. I felt like my course was a bit of a shambles with the structure of the course structure and classes being changed several times. This meant that every semester was a nightmare trying to work out when I could do subjects, I ended up doing alot of my course externally from home because of this.

That being said they do have a couple of really interesting research areas, namely the augmented reality research but alot of there other IT research is pretty lack luster.
If I were you I would go to the east coast to study IT, but if you have to stay in Adelaide you'd be better off going to Adelaide uni, it doesn't have as big of an IT department but at least your at a much better campus and a more established university with a better reputation.
