u know for subjects like chem and phys - for short answer they give u a lil space with lines to write in?

if i write outside the lines, will the markers read it?

If it's readable they'll read it. Those are the guidelines. Whether they understand it however...

They'll read it as long as its legible and they know where the writing outside the lines connects with the writing on the line, so don't expect that if you start writing parts of your answer in all parts of the paper that they'll read it but if it's understandable and interpretable, they'll mark it.

Yeah, I've been told as long as you don't end up going onto other questions, (Because all the questions get broken up to marked) you'll be fine. I think that includes going onto additional booklets if need be and saying on the booklet what question it is.

Not much I don't think except meaning a bit of extra reading for the markers :p

If u check the standards packages, especially for the big 5-8 mark questions, u'll see the responses go all over the page, even with diagrams (I did one for superconductivity in Physics)

I hate those BOS papers. The spacing between each lines are too big.

To allow students who can't write much feel good that in the end they can say "I manged to write 5 pages!! fear me!!"

I guess it's probably a general subject type paper that it suits all. i'd still prefer the exercise book type papers.

if u write big... then ull get more pages done... n so have teh 'ribbon effect' theory which states taht when the marker gets ur paper... cos u go into a 2nd booklet.. they'll unconsciously blieve ur a beta candidate n u have more things to say den others...
i thnk....
