Probability tips:

* If the question asks for the probability of something "and" something else occurring, you will usually need to multiply the probabilities.

* If the question asks for the probability of something "or" something else occurring, you will usually need to add the proababilities.

* Draw a tree diagram. It helps you work out which events are occurring and ensures you have got all the possibilities.

mmmmm i wouldnt go for a tree diagram, not if it involves rather large numbers, e.g. involving a pack of cards.

-decipher what all the mumble jumble the question is about, ie write down in simple form what they want. e.g. from 13 ppl, we want 6 people. IE 13 C 6

-if questions involve AT LEAST, then we have to consider ALL possibilities above a the certain number indicated. So, e.g. how many ways to choose at least 4 ppl from a group of 6, we have to consider choosing 4 ppl, OR 5ppl, OR 6ppl.

-this, in vice versa, is the same with NO MORE THAN, considering possibilites BELOW a certain number stated.

-if i can think of more, i will post em up
