I'm in yr 11 right now. Before i was doing business studies and then i changed it to legal, now i'm thinking of going back to business studies. But we already have started school like 2 months... so i think if i change it, i'll miss out on alot of things and assignments.. i don't know what to do..

You'll have to catch up on all the stuff you missed out on, however, if you really enjoy Business Studies, it is better for you to put in 2 weeks of hard-work, as opposed to:

1. Waiting for a while, then having to catch up on MORE work (a stitch in time saves nine)
2. Waiting, and eventually, when you do approach your DP/YA, he/she says "Sorry, you can't change subjects anymore".

My school generally allows students to change subjects up to about Week 6/7. Most schools will want their students to change their subjects to subjects they like, because chances are, if a student enjoys what he/she does, they will do better in the exams, which is what the school wants.

But as Without Wings said, you need to talk to your DP/YA/whoever.

Er...that's not a good idea. I'm pretty sure that you need to know Year 11 Business Studies stuff to do Year 12 Business Studies. That'd be a massive catch up, if the school did allow a swap in Year 12, and I doubt it.

The preliminary course is a prerequitiste for all HSC courses, if you don't do Business Studies in year 11 you cannot do it in year 12 for the HSC

IMO, Legal is 20x more difficult than Business Studies.

Legal requires a lot more memorization, whereas content studied in business seems more logical and thus easier to learn + remember.
My desk buddy in Legal deperately wants to change classes because she "Doesn't get a thing" But the head teachers have told her it's to late, and the only choice is to wait till term 4 to drop it.

It's probably best to check with your school to see if you actual CAN change, or not.

Really? I did Business Studies in Year 10, and I found it quite hard to grasp key concepts. I'm doing Legal Studies now, and despite the fact that some of the ideas and issues are more abstract (such as morals, values and ethics), I find it a lot easier to understand, and a lot more enjoyable.

Business does get a little prosiac at times with my monotone teacher, but it still beats legal. :)

So you must be doing HSC Legal now?
I really hope the rumour of it becoming a jillion times more fascinating in year 12 is true.

Nah, doing Preliminary Legal Studies. I wanted to accelerate in Business Studies last year because I just wanted to get a feel of what Year 11 felt like - I did ok, I came 15th in a cohort of 60 students (36 Year 11s and 24 Year 10s). But it was just too boring. Perhaps it would've been more interesting if I had chosen Acc Modern History.

Too bad SBHS doesn't offer Legal Accelerated =(

Congratulations! That's a great ranking considering you attend SBHS.

And you say you found it harder than Legal?
It's kinda frightening to imagine what you're like in LS. :p

It's not that I'm better - my teachers reckon I could've just scraped a Band 6 in BS, which is all I really wanted. However, I didn't enjoy Business Studies, it was sorta boring, and I found myself dragging myself to completing just the basic homework, let alone, make notes and revise for exams.

Legal Studies on the other hand, I have enjoyed for quite a while. Things such as the UN and Law interest me.
