TOO LATE TO CHANGE TOPICS?? (Major Work) (1 Viewer)

I'm currently doing my essay on whether Elagabalus was rightfully blamed for the downfall of Rome and looking at the contrasting views of ancient and modern perspectives. I've started my essay already as well but thanks to spontaneous web surfing I came across the myth of Pocahontas today (was she the noble indian princess American culture has perceived her to be?) and right now I really regret not thinking of this topic earlier cause after reading about it I'm very interested now. I know my teacher is gonna hate my guts if i change.

So, what is your opinion? Would it be a smart choice to change topics to one I'm more passionate about? or would it be setting myself up for ultimate doom?

Woah awesome topic choices (though I do prefer your current choice on Elagabalus, but I'm baised). They're very good questions, encompassing immense opportunities for the analysis of Historiography. I think your best bet would be to talk to your teacher (perhaps email them, since it's school holidays), and get their opinion on it. The project isn't due until Term 3, so you still have a whole term plus two sets of holidays to do it, if you really wanted to change topics. In the end it really depends on you. Are you a dedicated student? Do you pack it in during times of stress? Will you be able to get it done? Are you going to give it all you've got? All those questions, we can't answer for you. Ultimately it's your decision.

However, I know people from other schools who are just starting the writing process of their projects. I also know, that once your interest has changed course, its difficult to upkeep with old flames. [Kind of like an old crush, someone you used to be obsessed over; however you've recently got sights on a new flame, and thus the old obsession deteriorates and passion is lost]. So it's going to be difficult for you to continue with your current major, knowing and believing in an alternative path. If I was you, I'd be changing topic quick stat (after notifying my teacher though - I try to always run things be her first) and then try and get as much done as possible these holidays.

Best of Luck on your decision and the completion of your Major Work though! n_n
