Recently, in the past month or so, we seem to be getting way too much downtime. Perhaps if we open up donations, bos could subscribe to a much better/faster/bigger server?

I'm sure life will go on if bos keeps going down regularly.

the downtime isn't a fault of admins. its a fault of the server. there's been at least 10 big periods over the last month where bos couldn't be accessed.
So, why not open donations for a better server?

I agree, there has been a fair amount of board downtime in recent weeks, although I can certain understand if BOS can't move to different hosting due to excess fees. Another thing I noticed was that the site is hosted on US servers - is it feasible to move them to a closer location, as nearly all traffic is Australian? Or are there other issues that us ordinary folk ignore?

I know that is a sever prob but what I meant is they provide the best server they can...Donations would be a good idea if they werent so difficult to organise

This happens every year. Donations were open for a while through PayPal sometime last year for a short while, but the admins have since decided to not use it.

Yeah I'd love to donate too :D. I've been on this site for the past 4 months but I've never registered to the forums until now! I've used the resources a lot (they're GREAT) and I'd love to help you guys out by donating a small amount as I'm sure others would (BOs - greatest site ever lol).
It'd be really great to have a paypal link or something like that!

Is this fake: Seems like a slightly dodgy site, as does the paypal user name:

Received by jumb. - littlebos

"Hey, Sunny just told me to forward his message to a few other people that want to donate. Here is his original message:"-Jumb
------------------------------------------

"Hey guys. We took the paypal donations link down from the main site last year because it was being abused and misused by unregistered users doing anything to try and hack it.
The link is still up but we only give it to regular users. So pass it on using PM only to the people that use the site regularly or want to donate money to maintain the site.

The link (a subdomain of our main host) is:
http://boredofstudies.atspace.org/

littlebos 'forwarded' it to me.
i thought it was fake. Obviously he created his own paypal account and mirror.
the paypal email is: boredofstudiesdonations@yahoo.com.au
can a mod contact them and tell them to freeze the act.

Just remember guys, do not trust anything unless it comes from an admin (wouldn't recommend trusting a mod either just in case)

I'm insulted that you would think I'd be that weak to try and steal money.
