Is it just me, or is there a lack of trance in oZ.

All we get is commercial crap...

Anyone agree?

do u mean trance producers or trance in general.. if in general, theres tonnes of good trance out there.. most music stores will have good mix cds, or if ur into more underground stuff central station or wotever...

or u need to just go to the right club to hear the music u like.

bah trance
MoS compilations are cheezy and shite...
i had a cool deep trance 3 x mix cd compo i got in france, but most of the trance i've come into contact with here is cheesy and shallow... all glosticks, chupachups, dummies and sunglasses... i've abandoned it in favour of drum+bass-- which is even harder to find, regrettebly, especially local stuff.

Drum and Bass, is that like Leftfield Electronica?

Isn't Aphex Twin, Drum and Bass? Do you like Aphex Twin?....

He is one of my current favourites....

alot of aphex twin is dnb (esp. come to daddy, an excellent track) but he tries alot of other stuff, which is good also...

other (sort of) well known drum+bass artists/groups

- roni size/reprazent
- breakbeat era
- kruder and dorfmeister (mostly chillout though)
- dieselboy
- ltj bukem
- kosheen (the album's mostly popno, but the 2 dj's in it (decoder and substance) produce some excellent hard bass on their own)

and there's a whole stack of other excellent - but less well-known - artists: dom and roland, DEI3C, tech itch, teebee, goldie, die, suv, krust, omni trio, london elektricity, xploding plastix, etc...

hmmm... tracks... let's see:

roni size:
brown paper bag is a classic, about 1996 or so, but ages well
mexican
share the fall

anything by dieselboy will most likely give you a headache :) but try "the descent" or "invid"

can't punish me by dom and roland is good

toxin, dream theif (or actually anything else at all) by DEI3C (that's actually a logotype for "bad company" - think "BC" reflected in the column of the B - hard to do with text)

fingerprints, redwind --teebee

kloakin device - krust

errr... anything off the bcrecordings, ffrr, full cycle, or hospital labels = good

that oughta get you started

ok then back to study

They're one of my favourite artists....

download a few tracks before you get an album, cos they aren't really for everyone...some people see them as cold and emotionless...

download anything off LP5 or Tri Repetae.....

I thought we were through discussing it....

We established that it was a derivative genre, not unlike dance....

have you heard "I care because you do" by Aphex twin, its not very dnb but its wikkid if you into his style - ambient pads and stings and that type, woth the occasional industrial breaks underneith... you know he builds his own synths??? crazy stuff
