2. The advent of self serve POS systems has had a profound effect on he nature of the retail industry. Assess the impact that self serve POS systems and on-line shopping have had on participants in the retail industry (4 marks)

I can help with question 1 seeing as it interrelates to one of the core topics. However, seeing as I am doing DSS and MM as my Options it is a little hard for me to provide any input for part 2 of your question.

1. DATA VALIDATION- is critical in transaction processing since inaccurate or incomplete data will have dire consequences for the completion of the transaction. Validation can be achieved in several ways:

• Verification at data entry time - Statement, Expand, Xample, Evaluation.
• A comparison of the data-Statement, Expand, Xample, Evaluation.

If validation is not completed a number of aspects may be affected, including:

• incorrect good/s being ordered.
• goods being sent to the wrong persom.
• goods being sent to the wrong address.
• payment is never made or received, for example, from an incorrect credit card number.
