i've just been thinking about this but doesn't drafting people for war come into conflict with human rights, which is a major concern of international LAW...so why does drafting occur without law taking control..

its either war or go to jail...

im asking this question because it might become a big issue in the future, since we've now got two war criminals in charge of australia and america

I don't think we have consciption in Australia. Do they have it in the US? It is of course anti-democratic. I don't think countries do this anymore considering we haven't had a large war. Can you imagine conscripting people nowadays with the amount of skill and training you need to fight? I don't think it will happen.

all US male citizens once they turn 18 must register with the SSS so they can be drafed in the event of war (i know, because i'm US citizen and had 2 register)

i believe, and i stand 2 be corrected, that australia can conscript soldiers, ONLY if there is a direct threat 2 Australia

I wasnt aware that it had changed, I remember having to study conscription for studies of religion, but the only way Australia can do that, is if theres a referendum?

I think it's only the Labor party that has a conscription policy (pretty sure it's labor, it's one or the other) and yeah you would think it goes way against freedom of choice and a whole heap of other issues - UN CROC, if the person being conscripted has children and what-not. But then again it could be considered a form of treason for not aiding your country.. Touchy issue.
A lot of European countries have army conscription also if the person is over 18 and not studying/working. Don't know if that's relevant but fuck, anything can be relevant if it's justifed.
And yeah women should be conscripted, after-all it's them that want all this fucking "equality". Bloody feminists.

I don't think women are equal to men. We have biological differences that render most of us incapable of forming the mind set for war and murder.(excluding those women who do murder) I couldn't do it, probably because thats the way i've been brought up but our physical characteristics are different, we aren't capable of fighting in war. It's rediculous. Feminazi's can do what they want but I think most women would agree that men and woman different physically. I wouldn't go to war, even if I had to be in gaol because of it. AND, i don't think the government would bring this in.

Yeah exactly, the government wouldnt be able to bring it in, not without chancing the fact that they may lose the upcoming election.
