Just a trial run. I don't know the cohort sizes for each subject at my school. Just seeing what ranks needed.

That's probably pretty close.

What you need to do is just do your best and try and get as high of rank as possible. Because you will most likely do well in the HSC due to plenty of time to study hard, it just always comes back to those ranks determining how much you will be dragged down (or they might save your HSC mark if you do poorly, or they may stay the same because you're first). That's all it is.

Then you just aim for all band 6's (>90 HSC mark), and bam you have a great ATAR.

So my advice is keep those 2 goals (very high rank + excellent HSC exam results) instead of worrying about exact ranks and estimates, and you'll do great
