What is the amplitude of this graph?

In my exam I had put 1, yet the teacher said the answer was 0.5.

[h=3]am·pli·tude/ˈampliˌt(y)o͞od/
[/h]
Noun:

  1. The maximum extent of a vibration or oscillation, measured from the position of equilibrium.

I would assume that the equilibrium is 0, therefore the answer should be 1 ?

It is 0.5...

The midpoint equilibrium is at 0.5. It goes up/down from 0.5 by 0.5 (amplitude).

If 0 was the equilibrium the graph would have to pass underneath 0, which it never does.
