As far as I remember, GATT has been abandoned. The WTO was introduced in (1993?) as part of a free-trade movement to PROMOTE free trade.

I don't know how businesses can protect themselves from Globalisation, businesses alone but I'm guessing it would have to do with domestic market and high levels of protection. However, I don't think a business like DSE would want to protect itself from globalisation as the rewards of a globalised business are financially huge.
