I am doing the HSC in 2012 and concerned with my performance this year. I have gone to the school counselor concerning this educational access scheme. We talked for many sessions on and off since year 8 about the problems concerning my parents.
I am currently receiving youth allowance from centrelink due to my mother's low income. This is because during the years of 8-9, my father had physically abused my mother and then abandoned our family, leaving overseas and has not contacted us since. Recently, my mother had to sell our home in order to pay off my father's debts and now we live in a small apartment. I have a younger brother and have been helping him quite a lot since our father had abandoned us. I've been to several counselors with my mother and brother to talk about our issue. I am just here to ask the students who have just finished their HSC on their opinions on this problem and if I am totally elibible for this scheme, as I have been trying to do well in my studies but living without a father and taking care of my brother has been quite an issue for me.
