What is the minimum UAI points that one has to get above the cut-off of a particular course to ensure that one gets into it? I just want a rough idea. What is the 'safe level'? I want to do Com/Law in Macquarie Uni, and its cut-off is 95.45, can I get in if I got a UAI of 96.45? Anybody got into their courses with the borderline cut-off UAI's here? I would appreciate it if there are any com/law students who can tell me what their UAIs were and how much higher they are compared to the cut-offs when they were applying?

my advice to anyone would be stop worrying about cut-offs. just get the best uai you can, and worry about them later.
because you dont need to worry about what you are going to do at uni till you finish your last hsc exam.

but i know that noone will do that, because i was the same. i'd say try to find the cut-offs for the last couple of years from the uac guide, or otherwise, and see the general trend.

for laws at macq... the uai's tend to increase every year... but saying that... dey increase usually only by point somethings ... you should be safe with a uai of 1.5 uai points above the cut off last year... i dont think you'de even need that but thats my guess

That’s my advice as well because
1. no matter what the cut off is, you should still be aiming for the best uai you can get
2. you can change uni prefs after the hsc
