hello
firstly I think it’s not worth stressing over ucat this early, it’s not an exam that needs 2 years to prepare for, if you want to start early then maybe mid year 11 would be a good time that’s just my opinion though, one year of prep is plenty

I didn’t use those courses myself but I can vouch for medentry and medify, my brother used medify in 2023 and grinded maybe 3 months maximum and got 3060 which was pretty good he got into WSU med, he rlly liked medify. a friend also used medify in 2020 and got ~2900 which was kinda low but good enough back then, he got a late offer to UNSW. just anecdotes I guess. I’ve heard good things about medentry too

all these courses are essentially the same though like there’s not a big differentiating factor between them I think? it’s just practice exams and large question banks to get through that are ucat exam-style. medify is on the cheaper side so a lot of ppl opt for that for this reason

Hi Mia,

I got into med for 2026 start as an international student. I personally found both MedEntry and Medify to be useful. The test is basically grinding practice questions. Not mindlessly grinding though. For MedView, if they want to charge you an exorbitant price, don't bother. I dealt with their parent company in the past and let's just say it was a horrible experience.

Hi! As a domestic UNSW Medical student, I personally used Medify. A lot of my peers also used Medify. Although in the past, Yr 10 might be too early to start preparation, I've been hearing crazy stories from selective schools of people starting tutoring for the UCAT in Yr 9/10 and I think that's reflected in the increasing scores we're seeing.

The main disadvantage of starting as early as you, is the potential for the exam to change. For example the UCAT replaced the UMAT ~2019, and in 2025, they got rid of Abstract Reasoning (a section of the UCAT). It's important that you discuss with your son why he wants to pursue Medicine, and if that's truly what he wants. If it is, then his motivation will definitely help him push through these difficult years. Additionally, there are a whole number of pathways to med aside from the Undergraduate pathway. You definitely do not have to get in straight out of high school.

If you needed some guidance specifically for the UCAT, feel free to message me!
