Not sure where to post this; have it in the uni forum as well

So I have gotten some very encouraging information and want to pursue this even more now.

I am currently interested in gaining a career in Game Design and Development the choice are limited to the ATAR's that I know I can achieve (UTS has an ATAR of 91 or around about that for a Bachelor of Comp Science. Where as a place like Macquarie University offers a Bachelor of information technology - Game design and development with an ATAR of 74.25. I think that the 74.25 is much easier and more in my league out of the two but in saying that 74.25 will be hard for me to get, there are placed that specialise in Game design and development such as AIT (Academy of Information technology) which is a Bachelor of Interactive Media, Raffles with a Bachelor of Arts (Vis com) Majoring in Game design and etc.

So what I would like to see from some people are their options and what they chose in terms of University or an Academy / College?

The courses from AIT, Raffles and etc are heavily geared towards the creative side of Game design which doesn't bother me but I am still tossing up between that and the Macquarie Uni course which is seems to be more of the development side of things.

Links are here if you can help me;

Macquarie: http://courses.mq.edu.au/undergradua...nd-development
AIT: http://www.ait.nsw.edu.au/courses/di...eractive-media
Raffles: http://www.raffles.edu.au/barts-games-design

Again if I was not clear as I know I ramble sometimes, which option would I better off going with? (I have already put Macquarie uni in my 1st preference in UAC btw as AIT and a couple of the others require to apply through them, which I have.

Thanks :)

Have you talked to industry professionals?

Contact some of the local studios and see if they have any advice for you.

I have contacted a few and they have said it really doesn't matter to be honest as your portfolio is the most important thing in the industry as it shows what you can do with that knowledge.

I say go for Uni
Why is this? I know the Private colleges are $40K vs the $8k the Uni's are but there aren't a lot of options in terms of Uni's in Game design and development with lower ATAR requirements, I'm not doing so well at the moment in school only getting low c's except for A's in IT: Graphics

To both of you what annoys me the most about myself is that in certain fields or areas of my life I excel at. For example I like making models and creating animations / games in 3ds maxx, Auto cad inventor, UDK & Unity and etc but my marks in school will never ever represent my attitude, enthusiasm, work ethic and work in these types of applications and hand drawings.

I don't even know if I can use those to get into the other higher ATAR uni's? I love the creative side but as an "art" it will be tough where as the development side of games will make me very well off assuming I get a job.

Is there a way I can change my UAC application and add other Uni's on but allow for an interview later on showing my work?
