Well, I really could not be bothered to search for a proper degree-related part-time job and an additional shift or two at the supermarket is far from ideal (and would only last over the christmas period, anyway), so I'm going to be after a little seasonal work... Do any of the uni students out there have any ideas or past experiences? I don't even know what type of work is seasonal throughout the break period (bar the standard pool related activities, but I can barely swim and do not have the proper certificates and the like).

Sydney region, too, if my degree didn't give that area preference away.

Edit: Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Plenty of seasonal stuff

Most times seasonal refers to agricultural work

Don't even think about cotton chipping unless you are physically fit and like hot weather. Although you can make good money, most times it will only stay around if you find cheap accommodation.

Shelf stacking is a possibility but a lot of the regulars would be looking for good money at the same time.

There are casual office jobs you could try for to do with your degree, or see your lecturers for some faculty paid work. or other casual jobs like labourer here and there.

There are weird jobs out there that people might not think about I once made 15grand in 3 or so months driving around in a ute with a blinking light up the top telling pilots where to spray cotton fields. It was all night work so like 5pm to 11am shifts.

Work in a pub collecting glasses is another good option.

I used to work at a wholesale nursery, most of the staff were seasonal, though I think canoelands might be a little out of your way :p.

it's hard to know what you're interested in and what your specialising in for you degree. maybe you can search the uni website for vac work, or go to your school and look around on the notice boards - often they have advertisments for seasonal work.

i got my vac job through an advert on webct from my school. it's not in sydney but it pays well.

DON'T DO COTTON CHIPPING WHATEVER YOU DO

Why?

Cuz you wake up at 2am, get to cotton farm at 5am (yes, it takes that long if you plan on living anywhere with signs of civilisation), work till 2pm (by 11 am the temps prolly nearing 40) and get back to your motel/accomodation at 5pm.

Not to mention the work is BORING, STRENGUOUS and DIRTY, and certaintly not worth the tiny bit extra you get paid.
