A friend of mine told me that he called up the BOS' advice line in regards to creative writing.

He told me that the call operators were briefed to advise students that the creative component of the exam will encompass something similar to:

You have been asked to attend a student forum where participants will present and discuss extracts that illustrate the characteristics and diversity of science fiction writing. Write THREE original extracts that you could present at the forum. Each of these three extracts should illustrate a different way that science fiction writing can be represented. Each extract should also be accompanied by a reflection that explores and analyses the ideas, as well as how you have tried to represent them.

I'm doing Science Fiction as the elective. Did anyone else call up in regards to Eng. Ext. 1? Is this true?

I'm not sure as to whether this is my friend's practical joke, but I'm not taking any chances.

Please respond. Also, please don't move this to the English Extension I forum as practically no one browses that area.

However, I know that they can ask anything, but do you think that the likelihood of something of this nature being asked be likely? After all, 2009 is the year of weird and whacky HSC questions...

I can confidently say that question wont come out considering that it is exactly the same as the trial independent paper of this year.. the hsc people would not ask the same question as the trials... they collect the trial questions from schools to make sure its not the same.. i heard..
