Is it allowed to heat a meausring cylindar in water bath? Im just going to hold it down with my hand, not clamp it or anything?

Is that ok?

For what practical experiment do you need to do that for?

Why can't you just put the substance in a beaker in a water bath, then transfer it to a measuring cylinder for volume measurements?
